Emagene Academy was established in 2025 by Dr. Shirley Koeh and Dr. Irdina Aminuddin, following their certification from the Institute for Functional Medicine (IFM). Their journey into functional medicine was shaped by personal challenges limited access to quality resources, the steep learning curve, and the demanding preparation required for IFM exams. Navigating this path often felt isolating, and what ultimately carried them through was their shared commitment and support for each other.
Identifying a Critical Gap
This experience revealed a critical gap: despite the growing need for functional medicine practitioners, the educational pathway remained difficult to access, especially in Asia. Emagene Academy was created to bridge that gap.
Our Partnership and Mission
Through our official partnership with IFM, we now offer structured guidance and learning support to professionals who aspire to deepen their expertise in functional medicine. Our mission expands beyond practitioner training — we believe that functional medicine principles should be accessible to everyone. This is why we also conduct public workshops designed to empower individuals with practical, science-based knowledge to improve health, optimise longevity, and prevent disease.
Why We Exist
